Several typical dishes have been preserved in the valley of Mislinjska dolina through the oral tradition with housewives carrying them over to the present day.

Thus is still posible to taste:

  • Mežerli (a pudding made of pork offal)
  • Ajdovi žganci (hard-boiled buckwheat mash)
  • Štruklji (boiled rolls filled with cottage cheese)
  • Prekajene jedi (smoked dishes)
  • Potica (a rolled-up cake, usually filled with nuts and raisins)
  • Štrudl (rolled- up pie filled with apples and/or cottage cheese)

A special treat among local beverages is bilberry brandy and cider.
